A full English breakfast is served around the big table in the farmhouse kitchen with all possible combinations and a few treats that we don’t always have time for at home.
We are food producers, all be it at the very start of the line and for a product to taste good a lot of time, care and pride has to go in, the result of all of that has to be enjoyment.
Roger Baxendall makes the best bacon we have ever tasted, it is all he does so he is very good at it. He delivers it into our kitchen whenever we ask him. It is not our pork, Snow White’s offspring produce the best roasting pork but carry rather too much fat for bacon.
Sausages are locally sourced and can occasionally be made from our own pork when available.
Doreen’s black pudding comes via Wilkinson’s butchers in Ilkley.
The eggs are William’s department, he bought the hens, takes care of them and if you ask him he may have some spares for you to buy to take home.
We still have a milkman, Robbie Braime will deliver fresh milk and cream at the drop of a hat.
For the last five years we have entered the World Marmalade Awards at Dalemain House in Cumbria, slow improvement has been made the highest accolade being a Silver. I love to make preserves when time and seasonal produce are abundant.
I prefer to support local shops for bread and condiments and for 12 years I worked for the rather fabulous Betty’s of Harrogate, doing the best job in the world – Quality Control. Happily children and lifestyle got in the way and i am now just a rather devoted customer, I get tea’s, coffee and bread from them.
There is an excellent pub 3 miles from us The Slater’s Arms at Bradley or Stephano’s Italian is 1.5 miles down the hill. It is advisable to book.
